I’m reading in today’s Daily Herald that St Maarten United Ministerial Foundation (SMUMF) is launching a campaign to stop the planned visit of Mariner of the Seas, a cruise ship which will be carrying an estimated 3100 homosexual passengers. The ship is scheduled to arrive on November 1st, 2007.
According to Pastor Eddie Arrindell, homosexual lifestyle does not contribute to the social and moral development of St Maarten and does not embrace the values of the church.
Various SMUMF speakers speaks about homosexuality as “society illness”, leaving “bad influence and destruction in their path”, “god did not create them that way”, “youngster of St Maarten were embracing homosexual and bisexual lifestyle”.
I think SMUMF should also include Jews, gypsies, mentally retarded, and last but not least, black people as well; like homosexuals, it is obvious that these kinds of people can’t be a creation of the Almighty, and therefore shouldn’t be seen in St Maarten.
I congratulate SMUMF for their positive attitude in discriminating certain kind of people, which is the true and only way to be a good creature of God. Human rights are an evil creation, and I hope God will help SMUMF to stop the application of these stupid laws, who dare claiming that all men are born equal.
Thank you Eddie Arrindell, in trying to bring St Maarten back where the world was 400 years ago, I’m sure God will appreciate your efforts. Another guy called Adolf Hitler previously had the same kind of attitude, but unfortunately and for some unexplained reason, was unsuccessful.

I am a gay man who will be visiting St. Maarten for the first time on 1 November 2007 – brought to your beautiful island aboard the cruise ship in question. The St. Maarten United Ministerial Foundation claims 3,100 gays will visit? This is a LIE. There is a gay/lesbian group called “aquafest” which comprises 400-500 passengers on this sailing. The remainder of the 2500+ passengers will (presumably) be straight. But The St. Maarten United Ministerial Foundation doesn’t seem to be concerned about letting the truth get in the way of their campaign to turn us away. Please don’t let my first visit to your paradise be marred by these zealots who don’t seem to mind distorting the truth to instill fear and bigotry.
Hello Frank
well, I’m quite glad to tell you that many St Maarteners were VERY shocked by SMUMF stupid reaction, at least considering all the protest letters Daily Herald received in the following days…
I’m quite optimistic for your stay, I don’t think anyone will come and make noise or trouble around it…
All the best for your stay in the friendly island !
Take it easy
